The Tioga County Veterans Service Agency is a local, community-based resource for Veterans, Active-Duty Military, Reserve, National Guard, and their families of all generations who have served the nation, fought its wars and kept its peace.

We are often the first and most frequent point of contact for Veterans, Active-Duty, Reserve, National Guard, their families, and Caregivers as they navigate the complex, intergovernmental chain of veteran resources and services.

Our Veterans Service Officers are certified and accredited through the Office of General Counsel, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and New York State.

Our Services include:

  • advising, educating, and advocating on Veterans' Benefit Entitlements from Federal, State, County, and Town resources.
  • Case Management and Legal Representation for VA Compensation and Pension Claims & Appeals to the Veterans Benefits Administration.
  • Gaining access to Healthcare through the Veterans Health Administration.
  • Conduct Outreach Events to connect Veterans and Service-Members and their families to Support Services, Peer-to-Peer Support, Fraternal Organizations to include the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and American Legion.

    • 3-year certification program as Mental health First Aider to take the fear and hesitation out of starting conversations about mental health and substance use problems by improving understanding and providing an action plan (Click here) that teaches people to safely and responsibly identify and address a potential mental illness or substance use disorder. Mental Health First Aiders are a vital link between someone experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge and appropriate supports.
